Warwickshire Health and Wellbeing Portal

Public Health Warwickshire have developed the Warwickshire Health and Wellbeing Portal (www.warwickshire.gov.uk/wellbeingportal). The Portal is an online directory of services for GPs, health professionals and practitioners to use in signposting patients, customers or clients to public health and preventative services. Features of key importance are that the Portal is accurately maintained, up-to-date, accessible and quick and easy to use.

Services under the following headings are listed on the Portal:

  • Advocacy
  • Alcohol and drugs
  • Healthy eating
  • Housing and benefits
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Physical activity and weight management
  • Screening
  • Sexual health and relationships
  • Smoking

Information about services to be listed on the public health system includes:

  • Contact details (name, address, telephone, email, website)
  • Service information with a detailed description and costs
  • How to book/refer and if applicable, link to online booking/referral form
  • Opening times and days
  • Profile of service audience

The Portal supports the delivery of a number of key outcomes for the public health business unit, including the delivery of the Making Every Contact Count programme and the wider prevention agenda. It also helps to discharge WCC and Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) responsibilities under the Care Act.

The Portal supports ‘Making Every Contact Count’ (MECC), which encourages conversations between practitioners and the public to try and encourage and empower healthier lifestyle choices, by providing practitioners with confidence in signposting to reliable services.
